Turn Me Up!

Hey, so our publicist just turned me on to this website. Hopefully they might want to get involved with the band. However that plays out, I think it is a very cool thing they are up to. In case you were wondering, during the recording, mixing and mastering process of our new record, American Anthems vol. 1, we Milwaukees (along with co-producer and engineer Wayne Dorell, and mastering engineer Fred Kevorian) went out of our way to make sure that the record had dynamics that have been lost on a lot of modern rock records.

One of the joys of being an independent band is that you get to make records that sound the way you want them to sound. I’m sure if we were signed to Mr. Big Shot Records someone would have pressured us into compressing the shit out of our record so that it would sound  as loud as all of the other garbage on modern rock radio.

As it is we probably don’t have enough money (or cocaine) to bribe our way onto those stations at the moment. So it is not a concern of ours. Therefore, you should know that we in fact went out of our way to plan, produce, record and master an album that had dynamics. When the guitar is doing something important, you’ll fucking hear it. When the vocals or the drums need to step up, they will. It won’t sound like one big shitty compressed mess. This I promise you.

Of course, you’ll all be listening to it on MP3, so who knows if you’ll even hear it. But goddamn, we’ll know we did it right.

The moral of the story: when American Anthems vol. 1 comes available on September 4, pick it up and don’t be afraid to turn that shit up. It may not be as loud as the new fucking Fall Out Boy song, but I’ll be goddamned if it doesn’t have more dynamic range. I believe in very little, but some things are sacred.
