The Milwaukees in Milwaukee - Finally!

OK, so the Milwaukees aren’t playing Milwaukee. At least not yet! Though they have played Wisconsin a few times. But I digress. American Anthems vol. 1 was reviewed in Milwaukee’s Shepherd Express. Here is what they had to say:

“Oddly enough, the Milwaukees aren’t from Milwaukee. But it makes sense that this Jersey City-based quartet still chose our fine city as its namesake: The 10 songs on American Anthems Vol. 1 sound as though they were born and bred in the Midwest. This is no-frills, open-road guitar rock about dreams chased and innocence lost, performed with gutsy emotion and abundant hooks.

“Often compared to Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers, largely because of their blue-collar swagger, The Milwaukees serve up their hearty heartland rock in nearly equal doses of rockers and ballads. Consequently, the songs on American Anthems Vol. 1, the band’s third album, aren’t anthems in the traditional sense of the word. Rather, they’re slices of life, magnified and looming. Maybe actual anthems will come later, as volumes two and three are already in the works. Meanwhile, somebody book these guys at Summerfest.” -Michael Popke, The Shepherd Express

  1. Vol. 3 ??

  2. I don’t know where they got the info about a Volume 3. I’m not saying we won’t do it. But we definitely don’t have it written or recorded. Volume 2 on the other hand is definitely just about done!
